BRING WHAT YOU CAN

BAYLEYS CANNED FOOD DRIVE

We’re fortunate to work alongside Bayleys Canterbury, who dedicate their partnership with us to delivering a variety of community-based initiatives throughout the region.

Bring What You Can – our first Christchurch food bank fundraiser was launched at the Crusaders versus Brumbies match at Orangetheory Stadium. Bayleys hosted the curtain raiser match between St Thomas of Canterbury College First XV and Shirley Boys’ High School First XV. 2,000 tickets gifted to local secondary schools, gave friends and family a place in the stands to watch our future Crusaders play. Bring what you can was our take on the classic canned food drive. Encouraging attendees to the game, as well as their friends and family to drive canned food to drop off at the stadium during the game and help raise supplies, funds and awareness for the Christchurch city mission food bank.

The game was broadcast live on Sky Sport. Bring What You Can brought donations of cans flooding into our offices every day in May, filling the City Mission’s foodbank for the winter months ahead.

“Thank you to the team at Bayleys for the opportunity to play a televised curtain raiser in the stadium. This will be a memory for life for a lot of the boys, thanks to your generosity.”

Mark Hammett

Director of High Performance and Wellbeing, St Thomas of Canterbury College
