BAYLEYS COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT WITH THE
CRUSADERS
Join us in your red and black
Sport inspires, unites, and brings joy to our community and Canterbury’s love for rugby and loyalty to the Crusaders has got us all through some tough times. As a cornerstone of Bayleys community involvement, working as the Official Community Partner to the Crusaders plays a key part in keeping in touch and being involved in our communities. We’re proud to play our small part in making the magic happen and helping the Christchurch.
The Crusaders share our vision of a fairer tomorrow, and the great work they do supporting the Canterbury community off the pitch, makes us perfect partners.
They bring their powerful voice to help us draw awareness to great local causes, like the Christchurch City Mission. Because when we come together to stand with our community incredible things happen.
Bayleys backing Matatū
Matatū is the new name proudly carried by the South Island Women’s rugby team. Gifted by Ngāi Tūāhuriri, the name Matatū commands the team to remain steadfast with head held high, alert and ready to take on every challenge head on.
As Matatū’s Principal Partner. Bayleys Canterbury CEO, Pete Whalan says, “Matatū’s inspiring story, connected to the people and places throughout the South Island of New Zealand, makes us thrilled to support them as they embark on a new competition next year.
We’re proud to back this historic team and support their ambition to inspire the next generation of elite female rugby stars.
The Crusaders Bayleys Horses
Bayleys are the horsepower behind the six horses that ride out at the start of every home game. What’s not to love about the cheers and smiles that erupt on faces, providing a very Canterbury pre-match entertainment when the Crusaders Bayleys Horses perform three laps of the field before home games.
The Crusaders Bayleys Horses represent the regions of the top of the South Island, wearing the colours of the six provincial rugby unions that power the Crusaders.
STANDING TOGETHER
FOR OUR COMMUNITY
BAYLEYS BRING WHAT YOU CAN
Some families in Canterbury are so close to the edge an unexpected bill leaves their cupboards empty. In May we collect cans for the City Mission food bank. This year the Crusaders joined us for the first time, using their powerful voice to encourage Cantabrians to Bring What You Can to help with food poverty.
ACE, STANDING AGAINST BULLYING
In 2018, we teamed up with the Crusaders, BullyingFree NZ and Make-A-Wish NZ to create a book. Ace, A Horsey Tail of Courage, stars the Crusaders Bayleys Horses. It encourages children to speak-up and report bullying, while reinforcing the message that every child has the right to feel safe and accepted for who they are.
