CANTERBURY CONSERVATION EFFORTS

We’re fortunate to work alongside Bayleys Canterbury, who dedicate their partnership with us to delivering a variety of community-based initiatives throughout the region.

Tiaki for people and place

As part of our commitment to tiaki, we care both for people and this beautiful place we call our home. We’re proud to work in a range of conservation partnerships supporting the Banks Peninsula Conservation Trust and Te Tihi O Rauhea Hanmer Springs Conservation Trust. Together we can protect our native taonga for the people of Canterbury.

The Banks Peninsula Conservation Trust helps the community to protect and restore native habitat and control predators, which allows the native biodiversity to flourish. tītī (sooty shearwater), jewelled geckos, spotted skinks, the Banks Peninsula Tree Weta and Akaroa daisies, are getting a helping hand.

Te Tihi O Rauhea Hanmer Springs Conservation Trust restores wetlands and woodlands and controls predators in the Hanmer Basin. Their goal is to rid Hanmer Springs of introduced pests destroying native fauna and flora and create a welcoming habitat to encourage native birds to return and bred in the region.

BRINGING BACK TUI ON BANKS PENINULSA

In 2009, 30 tūī were released in Banks Peninsula. Now Akaroa residents enjoy their distinctive birdsong and the tūī are spreading across the Peninsula. Bayleys are proud to support the tūī by donating $100 from every house sold on Banks Peninsula to assist the Banks Peninsula Conservation Trust with predator control and habitat restoration.

SUPPORTING CONSERVATION IN HANMER

When you list with Bayleys in Hanmer, we donate $100 from every house sale to bring back thousands of birds to the Hanmer basin. The Hanmer Springs Conservation Trust is raising money to plant more natives and acquire traps for predator control to make Hanmer Springs predator free and bring back more native birds.
